Most of the time when I start a project I just wig it. But with my “new” workshop I really needed to plan things. While I was clearing out Workshop 3.1 I made a list of all the measurements of the furniture I wanted to keep. After that I made a rough sketch and measured up the room, as it has one really low wall (60 cm / 1.9 ft) wall, and 2 features that I could not move (the heater and the sink).

My main working area would be opposit the door against the wall. On the left I wanted shelving units for my mini’s. I found some great looking ones that would fit, although I could only place 3 of them and have a lot of room (70 cm / 2.29 ft) left. It took me a while, but did find a matching corner unit (yeay!).
But I also need to put 2 big dinertables (my workbenches) along the wall, and also wanted my bookscase to stand agains that wall. That side of the wall is going down in an angle, so I cannot put a high cupboard on that spot. Also I cannot put my workbench there because the ceiling is to low to work on (and I could not fit my HobbyZone modules on top of the table).
That does mean I have a little bit of room between the bookcase and the lower wall. I have some Roll Boxes (cheap plastic drawer cabinets on weels) that are about that hight. i will use those for large basing materials, towels and cleaning cloths and such…

And as every planning goes.. I changed a 2 things (as by now I am already far into setting everything up) The 3D printing Station and the RPG Bookcase have switched places. I also changed the 3D printing Station in a more important Coffie Maker worktable 😉 . As my workshop only has 1 window that is in the roof and I have to work in it in winter too, I decided to place my 3D printer in the “boiler room”. That is a small room where my central heating is, just next to my workshop. It already has a good ventilation system and does not te be heated.Â
That shelving unit (the coffe maker worktable) also has my Airbrush compressor, electric kettle, several thermoses for keeping water hot for 3D print cleaning, and my RPG files for DMing.
I have added a little cuboard/filing cabinet for my administration stuff (left lower corner) and a little table for my computer printer (that I completely forgot the plan a place for).
Until now (June 22nd) I have finished a big part of the unpacking and relocating of stuff. But the main part of the kitchen trolleys are not in place yet. I have them setup, and some already full of basing & aribrush stuff, but they are still in the middle of the room. As their place is still occupied by several moving boxes that I still need to unpack. But as it is Pride month I am taking part in the Fabulous Marines (Trevor Project: fabulousmarines & Trevor Project ) and still have a full time day job, I am taking that a bit easy.Â
